The word Giclée is French for "sprayed ink". Today, the term is used to describe a sophisticated inkjet printmaking process which creates the highest quality fine art reproductions.
Giclée printing offers extra-fine image resolution, helping retain a higher degree of detail from the original fine art or photographic images.
A lot of research and development has gone into the various aspects and materials that make up a Giclée print.
The archival nature of the print varies according to the type of inks used, as well as the archival properties of your chosen paper selected and the conditions in which the print is displayed or stored. Current scientific opinion is that our recommended papers and Giclée printing process will produce a print that lasts between 100 and 200 years in good conditions.
One of the most important aspects of our printing process is colour management.
Colour management involves the constant calibration of our printers, monitors, scanners and software to ensure the colour of your prints precisely matches the previews you get from the website. It's painstaking but vitally important work.

Yes, we mount prints to a wide range of different substrates / materials including: wood, acrylic, dibond, gatorboard, foam board, foamex.
Canvases are printed on specialist canvas material using our 12-colour Giclée process. This material is then hand-stretched over a handmade wooden canvas frame (made from four separate parts called canvas stretcher bars).
The canvas corners are folded tightly over each edge and then the material is fixed with staples to the canvas stretcher bar frame. Tape is then used to cover all staples, ensuring a smooth, neat finish.
We use European knotless pine frames. This frame is extremely hard wearing and does not warp, unlike many of the cheap online alternatives.
Each canvas stretcher frame is milled with a curved profile and rounded edges. This shape helps to minimise contact with the front face of the canvas, preventing unsightly impression marks and surface cracking.
Our canvas frames are all fully finger-jointed. This means that longer frames are made from several lengths of wood pressure-jointed together, helping the frame to resist warping. This combination of techniques helps ensure our canvas frames are exceptionally straight, even at the largest sizes.
Where required, wooden 'wedges' are added to each corner; ensuring your canvas print remains taut. These tensioning wedges are also particularly useful when re-stretching larger prints, which can relax over time.

All our standard canvases use a 38mm canvas stretcher bar.
We can work with a very wide variety of image file formats although our preference is for level 12 JPEG files.
We use JPEGs because the compression is very efficient and designed specifically for saving photographic images for electronic transfer and storage. Although a small amount of image data will be lost during the compression process, at high-quality levels there should be no meaningful difference between a level 12 JPEG and a TIF for 8-bit colour files. If you are working with 16-bit or higher colour files or if you are concerned at all about possible quality loss, then TIF would be the best option. Please bear in mind that TIF files will be significantly larger and take much longer to transfer.
We strongly recommend preparing files for print in RGB rather than CMYK as you will ensure your image has the widest possible colour gamut and achieves the most accurate reproduction.

Our unframed prints are hand rolled in protective tissue paper and then shipped in extra thick cardboard tubes. A delivery note is included with each package but this does not contain any cost prices so you don't need to worry if you are buying a print as a gift or sending direct to a customer.
All framed and canvas prints are wrapped in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimise the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
Our packaging standards have been refined many times, over many years and it is now extremely rare for breakages or damage to occur. On those rare occasions when incidents do happen we strive to ensure that your collection and replacement are organised immediately and shipped back out on a priority service without any fuss.
No, as a specialist white-label printer our packages do not include any logos or branding.
Our delivery note contain details about the recipient of the goods and also a summary of the products being supplied. But no pricing information is displayed anywhere. This is important if you are sending products as gifts or directly to customers.
Unframed prints are typically received within 3–5 working days. Canvas and framed prints are normally received within 5-7 days.
To help track the progress of your order we provide you with an email receipt, an estimated delivery date and tracking links when your product ships.
A delivery note is included with every order but this paperwork DOES NOT CONTAIN any price details so you do not need to be concerned if sending a print as a gift or sending directly to a client.
All products are dispatched using either courier or recorded mail and have tracking.
We send tracking information with your shipping notification email when orders are dispatched from our print lab.
In the UK including Northern Ireland, paper print delivery costs £6.00 and all framed or mounted prints cost £10.00.
